Of the three, I think the P90 sounds the best! I know that on paper, it's a single-coil, and therefore nowhere near a perfect center on paper - but in terms of output, in terms of how it actually sounds, it really does sound like an almost perfect in-between between the lipstick single-coil and the humbucker. I only wish all three guitars here used the same body, neck, and fretboard woods so we could have an even more perfect comparison. I get that tonewoods make a small enough difference that it doesn't completely wreck the comparison, but they make a big enough difference that it does make it a little less than perfect! Even so, enjoyable short! They all sound great, but that P90 really hits me just right! Cheers!

The first chord rake was the only time the hbs sounded obviously different. I don't know how to describe it, and it may just be the way it was played, but it definitely sounds like a humbucker there. As for the single note runs and double stops? I would believe it was a single coil if you told me it was.

In this instance, I'd say no. The Suhr has a thickness to it, that the Fender doesn't. But is that just the Strat "glassy" tone? Would different HB and SC match closer?

The Only correct answer is..... You Need Both !

I’m a never Fender guy unless it’s a Bassman and then I’m all in. Marshall clearly wins. Fenders sound like they are being played through someone’s nose.
